Dipl.-Ing. Johannes Berger is Head of the Labour Market and Social Security Research Section at EcoAustria. His research focus is on economic issues concerning the labour market, social security, and pensions systems on the national and international levels.

Berger studied Technical Mathematics with a focus on economic mathematics at Technical University Vienna, where he graduated as an engineer in 2004. From 2005 to 2011, he worked as a research assistant in the Applied Research Section at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS).

In collaboration with his colleague Ludwig Strohner, Johannes Berger developed the computable general equilibrium model PuMA (“Public Policy Model for Austria and other countries”). Previously, he built up the general equilibrium model TaxLab and developed the EU-LLM model for the DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission. The EU-LLM model is used by the European Commission to analyse the labour market and the public sector.
