Director Monika Köppl-Turyna receives the Grete Rehor Prize for outstanding research achievements in the “Business” category
Prof. Dr. Monika Köppl-Turyna, Director of the economic research institute EcoAustria, was awarded the Grete Rehor Prize in the "Economy" category yesterday at the "Austrian Women's Prize" awards ceremony. The award recognizes the economist's research achievements on topics relevant to women's and family policy as well as her social and scientific impetus in the field of gender equality.
"Equality between women and men has immense economic benefits for our society. By overcoming the shortage of skilled workers, closing the pension gap and eliminating traditional role models, not only companies but society as a whole can benefit. The full development of female value creation potential through self-determination not only offers a rewarding perspective for women, but also clear added value for the economy," says the economist.
The prize, donated by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economy in the amount of € 2,500, was determined by two separate juries consisting of representatives of the awarding body and a panel of experts.

About Prof. Dr. Monika Köppl-Turyna
The 38-year-old economist received her doctorate from the University of Vienna in 2011 and was an assistant professor at the Lisbon University Institute from 2011 to 2015. She then worked as a Senior Economist at Agenda Austria and became a Fellow of the Global Labor Organization. She is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Rudolf Sallinger Fund and the Climate Council of Citizens, as well as the Council for New Worlds of Work at the Federal Ministry of Labor. Köppl-Turyna completed her habilitation at the Johannes Kepler University Linz in summer 2020. She has been a professor at the Schloss Seeburg Private University in Seekirchen since September 2023. She was ranked 5th among the most influential economists in Austria in the 2021 Presse/FAZ/NZZ economist ranking and is currently Director of the EcoAustria economic institute
