EcoAustria celebrated ten years of economic policy expertise
The Economic Research Institute EcoAustria celebrated its tenth anniversary this week. Together with over 150 top-class representatives from the local economy, politics and research, the roofs of Vienna were reviewed and an outlook on future plans was given.
EcoAustria President Dr. In the course of his opening words, Clemens Wallner emphasized the institute’s ability to communicate unpleasant truths: ‘Since the institute was founded ten years ago, we have not always just discussed comfortable things. Especially in economic policy, it is important To be able to express unpleasant truths: As a modern, cosmopolitan institute, we are reluctant to follow outdated customs.”
EcoAustria, Director Priv.-Doz, commented on the institute’s most important development steps. doctor Monika Köppl-Turyna: “When EcoAustria was founded, only a few have given us a chance of survival on the market. Despite many initial skeptics, we have now grown into a relevant player in the Austrian research landscape. Our work forms the basis for Fact-based decisions in Austrian politics and business, which we are particularly proud of.”
As part of a panel discussion, the general role of the economic research institutes and the necessary framework conditions for good economic policy advice were discussed. EcoAustria Director Priv.-Doz. doctor Monika Köppl-Turyna, OeNB Director Dr. Thomas Steiner, Prof. Dr. Hubertus Bardt from the Institute of German Economics and Vice Rector and Professor of International Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Professor Dr. Harald Badinger.
