EcoAustria at the Federal Council’s Enquete on the subject of care

"The future of care: achievable, visible, affordable" is the topic of today's parliamentary inquiry in the Federal Council. Following the opening address by Federal Council President Ledl-Rossmann and political keynote speeches by Social Affairs Minister Stöger, Finance Minister Schelling, Health Minister Rendi-Wagner and Tyrolean Provincial Councillor Tilg, EcoAustria Research Director Dr. Tobias Thomas will present the challenges of care from an economic perspective. "A purely fiscal view falls short when it comes to care - the topic affects us too much as children and grandchildren of those in need of care or as future care recipients ourselves," says Thomas. "However, without a fiscal and economic approach, care cannot be made sustainable and fit for the future," emphasizes Thomas. Expenditure in Austria will more than double by 2060. Therefore, measures for financing should be openly discussed and efficiency potential should be leveraged. "This requires cost transparency and uniform measurement of care quality between the federal states," explains Thomas. EcoAustria analyzes the efficiency of public spending with its federal state benchmarking, among other things.
