EcoAustria at the Forum Alpbach 2015

The financing of long pension phases burdens the world of work with high tax contributions, especially in Austria. What is particularly critical is that the pension system has long been used for non-pension purposes, such as gender equality or labor market policy measures. The result is an expensive system that treats women and men unequally, harms women on the labor market and puts younger people at a disadvantage. What should a sustainable, fair pension system look like?

At the European Forum Alpbach on September 2, 2015, Ulrich Schuh (Chief Research Officer), Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz(TU and member of the EcoAustria Advisory Board), Social Affairs Minister Rudolf Hundstorfer, WKO President Christoph Leitl, Herbert Rohrmair-Lewis (Federal Chairman of the Young Economy) and Bert Rürup (economist and former economic expert) discussed this topic.
