Dr. Tobias Thomas Director
Tobias Thomas, Director of the economic research institute EcoAustria, has been appointed to the Committee for Economic Systems and Institutional Economics of the Verein für Socialpolitik. This was decided by the members of the committee at their annual meeting in Hamburg on Tuesday. Thomas, who teaches at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) alongside his work in Vienna, is looking forward to the scientific collaboration. "The design of the institutional framework is crucial for the competitiveness of a business location and for growth and prosperity," says Thomas.
The Verein für Socialpolitik is the most important scientific association of economists in the German-speaking world. With around 4,000 members, it is also one of the largest economics associations in the world. A substantial part of the research activities of the Verein für Socialpolitik is carried out in 24 specialist committees. The Committee for Economic Systems and Institutional Economics, founded in 1968, is one of the oldest in the association.
