Economic policy measures to tackle obstacles to economic growth caused by labor shortages

In August 2021, the number of unemployed people in Austria was 286,277, below pre-crisis levels for the first time since the start of the coronavirus crisis. However, the number of long-term unemployed people has risen sharply and is currently only slowly falling again. At the same time, a continuous increase in the number of job vacancies has been observed for some time.

Against this background, this brief study discusses economic policy measures on the basis of economic literature and practical examples and solutions in other countries.
