Economist ranking: EcoAustria Director Köppl-Turyna in 5th place
Ernst Fehr (University of Zurich) remains the most influential economist in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. This is shown by the economist rankings published by the daily newspapers "Die Presse", "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" and "Neue Zürcher Zeitung". The reason for Fehr's ranking is his outstanding popularity in the scientific community. Over the past five years, Fehr has been cited more than 16,800 times by other researchers in specialist journals.
In Austria, Christoph Badelt, head of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (Wifo), is the best-placed economist. The ranking also underlines the successful work of EcoAustria Director Monika Köppl-Turyna and the EcoAustria team. Compared to the previous year, the economist's ranking has improved significantly from twelfth to fifth place: "My work for EcoAustria only started in November. We have set ourselves even higher targets for the coming year. The very good assessment of our political performance is particularly pleasing," comments Monika Köppl-Turyna on the ranking. In the politics category, the political economy expert is in third place. Overall, she is one of only three women to make it into the 2021 economist ranking.
