Economist ranking: EcoAustria Director Thomas in 5th place
Ernst Fehr (University of Zurich) remains the most influential economist in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. This is shown by the economist rankings published today by the daily newspapers "Die Presse", "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" and "Neue Zürcher Zeitung". The reason for Fehr's excellent ranking is his outstanding distribution in the scientific community. Over the last five years, Fehr has been cited more than 15,500 times by other researchers in specialist journals. In Austria, Martin Kocher from the Institute for Advanced Studies is the most cited economist in the media. The advice of EcoAustria Director Tobias Thomas is particularly valued in politics. Thomas is ranked 5th overall in Austria, while the President of the ifo Institute in Munich, Clemens Fuest, dominates the German media. In politics, the advice of his predecessor Hans-Werner Sinn is most in demand. In Switzerland, Reiner Eichenberger from the University of Fribourg is at the top of the media ranking. Swiss politicians in turn value the advice of Mathias Binswanger from the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland the most.
