Felbermayr new Chairman of the EcoAustria Advisory Board

Gabriel Felbermayr is the new Chairman of EcoAustria's Advisory Board. With the President of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW), one of the largest economic research institutes in Germany, EcoAustria is further expanding its scientific expertise and network in the field of foreign trade. "Trade wars and increasing protectionism have risen sharply in recent years. This has noticeably slowed down global economic growth. Austria and Germany are also affected by this," says Tobias Thomas, Director of the economic research institute EcoAustria. "Due to the close economic ties between Austria and Germany, we will continue to focus on the competitiveness of both economic locations. Gabriel Felbermayr's outstanding scientific expertise makes him the ideal partner," says Thomas.

The Austrian Gabriel Felbermayr is one of the most renowned scientists in the field of foreign trade in Europe. According to the economist ranking of Die Presse and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Felbermayr is one of the ten most influential economists in Germany and Austria. The EcoAustria Advisory Board is an independent body of personalities that advises the Institute on scientific and economic policy issues. Other members of the Advisory Board are the entrepreneur and former Federal Minister of Finance Hannes Androsch, the Head of Section in the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs Florian Frauscher, the economist Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz, the CEO of the Public Employment Service Austria Johannes Kopf, Michael Losch, Head of Section at the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism, legal scholar Wolfgang Mazal, Werner Pracherstorfer, Head of Spatial Planning, Environment and Transport Planning at the Office of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government, Harald Waiglein, Head of Section at the Federal Ministry of Finance, and economist Andrea Weber.
