Country benchmarking

As part of its efficiency and impact analyses, EcoAustria compares public expenditure as an input variable (e.g., in the areas of education, health, care, and administration) with performance indicators as an output variable. Statistical controls can be applied to account for structural differences (e.g., migration rates or demographic differences). When comparing states or federal states, efficiency potentials can be determined using the respective benchmark value, such as the most favorable input-output ratio.
