Regional Model

The EcoAustria regional model is an econometrically estimated gravitational model that analyzes the development of the regional product depending on the availability and economic performance of other regions. Accessibility depends on the expansion of the transport infrastructure. Thus, the influence of infrastructure investments on the gross regional product, employment and the associated fiscal returns can be calculated. Statements can also be made as to which infrastructure investment is more worthwhile from an economic point of view and which less. In addition to the transport infrastructure, the EcoAustria regional model can also be applied to other infrastructure investments, e.g. broadband expansion.
