In Austria, employee representatives are increasingly calling for shorter working hours with full pay and more vacation. This is intended to reduce unemployment. In contrast, the business community considers it necessary to ease the burden on companies and rejects additional burdens.

The steps that would also be effective and necessary in Austria to create more growth and employment were discussed at a WKO press conference on June 18, 2015. In addition to host and WKO President Leitl, Werner Beutelmeyer(Market Institute) and Chief Research Officer Ulrich Schuh, who addressed questions relating to the economic significance, were also present.
