Together with the Department of Migration and Globalization at Danube University Krems, EcoAustria examined the effects of a welcoming culture for the pilot regions of Vöcklabruck-Gmunden and Innviertel-Hausruck and the state of Upper Austria. In particular, positive effects on the national economy, the labor market and public finances were identified.
Experience with the implementation of such a socio-political strategy in traditional immigration countries such as Canada, the USA and Australia shows that, first and foremost, a social appreciation of migrants and diversity in our society is required. In order to achieve this, a public discourse must be initiated that focuses on the positive effect of immigration on society.
