Wolfgang Schwarzbauer is the new Head of Research at EcoAustria

Wolfgang Schwarzbauer was unanimously appointed Chief Research Officer at the EcoAustria General Assembly on June 10, 2020. He succeeds Tobias Thomas, who moved to Statistics Austria as Director General at the beginning of June.
"I am delighted to be able to continue shaping the development of EcoAustria with the experienced team. The COVID-19 crisis in particular shows that evidence-based applied economic research is currently more important than ever," says the 42-year-old economist, who holds a doctorate and has many years of experience in the field of applied economic research.
After completing the postgraduate program at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), he was a research assistant in the Economics and Finance research department at the IHS, which he also headed from 2011 to 2013. Research stays took Wolfgang Schwarzbauer to the University of Maryland (USA) in 2009, among other places. Between 2013 and 2017, he worked as a researcher at Oesterreichische Kontrollbank AG until he joined the EcoAustria team in 2017.
He or she will take over until the appointment of the new Chief Scientific Officer.
