Dr. rer. pol. habil. Wolfgang Briglauer
Head of the Digitalization and Regulation Research Section

Economist Wolfgang Briglauer joins the team of the economic research institute EcoAustria as head of the research area Digitalization and Regulation. "We are delighted to have gained Wolfgang Briglauer, a proven expert with outstanding expertise in the areas of digital change, broadband and industrial economics," says Tobias Thomas, Director of EcoAustria.

Briglauer, who has already carried out extensive research projects on broadband expansion and digitalization in Austria and abroad, is looking forward to the future with excitement: "At EcoAustria, I can fully contribute my project experience and methodological knowledge and thus make a contribution to well-founded decisions in politics and business," says Briglauer. "Digital framework conditions are a decisive factor for the competitiveness of modern business locations. This includes, in particular, a smart broadband expansion and the teaching of digital skills," explains Briglauer.

Briglauer, who holds a doctorate in economics, studied economics at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz and graduated with distinction in 2001. After working for the economics department of Rundfunk und Telekom Regulierungs-GmbH, Briglauer conducted research at the Institute for Regulatory Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) and at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim. In addition to his work at EcoAustria, Briglauer remains a senior researcher in the "Digital Economy" research department at ZEW.
