Economist Wolfgang Schwarzbauer joins the team at the economic research institute EcoAustria. "We are delighted to have gained a proven expert in Wolfgang Schwarzbauer, who has many years of experience in the evaluation of infrastructure, technology and competition policy as well as in the modeling of econometric estimation methods," says Tobias Thomas, Director of EcoAustria since the beginning of the year.Schwarzbauer began his career as an economist at the Institute for Advanced Studies, where he headed the Department of Economics and Finance from 2011 to 2013. Schwarzbauer, who was most recently Senior Manager of the Research Unit at Oesterreichische Kontrollbank, is looking forward to the future: "At EcoAustria, I can make full use of my expertise in the areas of regional and international economics as well as innovation and competition. It is important to me to present the topics in an understandable and transparent way and thus make a significant contribution to the public debate," emphasizes Schwarzbauer. "EcoAustria has already achieved great things in recent years in answering complex economic and social policy questions and I am delighted to be able to contribute to the further development of the institute." Schwarzbauer, who holds a doctorate in economics, studied economics and history at the University of Vienna and completed the postgraduate program at the Institute for Advanced Studies. Research stays have taken him to the University of Maryland (USA), among others. Schwarzbauer is well networked and has many years of experience in the implementation of national and international research projects. He also teaches at various Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences. EcoAustria - Institute for Economic Research has been active in the Austrian research landscape since 2012. With its research program, the institute focuses in particular on the ex-ante and ex-post evaluation of economic and social policy measures at national and international level.
