Mag. Dr. Wolfgang Schwarzbauer is Head of the Regional Economic and Trade Policy Research Section at EcoAustria. His research focus is on issues concerning international and regional economics as well as technology and competition policy.

Schwarzbauer studied economics and history at the University of Vienna. He completed his doctorate in economics in 2011. From 2003 to 2005, he completed the Postgraduate-Program at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS). Schwarzbauer was research associate in the Applied Economics and Finance department at the IHS from 2005 to 2013, including heading the department from 2011 to 2013. During this time, Schwarzbauer was responsible for many national and international research projects. His research focussed on modelling macroeconomic effects of monetary policy, economic forecasting, and the statistical modelling of economic processes. From 2013 – 2017 he was Senior Manager of Research at the OeKB AG, Austria’s export credit agency. Additionally, Schwarzbauer is lecturer at various Austrian universities.
